Who is it for?
Random Drug and Alcohol Testing Program is required for all CDL drivers operating vehicles 26,000 lbs in gross weight or more. (Regulation FMCSR 382)
How frequently will I get tested?
Test selections are conducted by a randomizer software every quarter. You can be selected up to 8 times (4 times for a drug test and 4 times for an alcohol test) but on the flip side, you may not be selected at all during any year.
How does this program work?

THE REGULATION: 49 CFR 382
Let's recap the DOT regulations so that you may better understand what to expect while enrolled in a Random Program.
49 CFR 382 dictates that all Commercial Motor Vehicle drivers must undergo random testing, where quarterly selections take place using an unbiased, random system which will identify 50% of drivers from a Random Pool for drug testing, and from the same pool, 10% of drivers for alcohol testing.
Therefore, there is only a 50% chance that your drivers will be selected for one type of test and 10% chance of selection for another test.
Because these selections are conducted by a random software on a quarterly, some drivers may be selected more than once, while other drivers may not be selected at all for periods of time. It really is a "digital coin toss".
